The different behaviors of wire particles under electric field result from the degree of corona discharge on the particles. However, the mechanism of the behaviors has not been explained based on force and torque on the particles. In this work, we experimentally studied movement behavior of wire particles with different ending profiles. The electrostatic force and torque on particles were analyzed by using a prolate spheroidal model with variation of the charge amount on particles. The studied results show that the falling phenomenon of the particles after departed from the electrode results from charge losses due to corona discharge.
