This paper deals with analysing the impact of Ferranti effect due to HV static capacitance on the operation of high voltage distribution networks, especially on the voltage regulation at different load levels. A model of the voltage regulation with all elements (position and capacity of the static capacitor) was developed. This model of HV distribution line is presented as a model for the computation of transients. Computations were carried out for various line lengths; various load levels; and various capacities of static capacitance elements. On the basis of analyzing the models responses, an analysis was made on the impact of the Ferranti effect on voltage regulation of HV distribution lines.
