Ocean wave energy is a renewable energy source with a huge potential. For wave energy conversion, direct-drive devices are considered to be more reliable and robust than gear box or hydraulic systems. In this paper, a novel direct-drive PM linear generator (PM-LG) system is proposed, and the influences of main parameters are studied with a developed design method. Finally, the design results of a 2 MW PM-LG are presented.
