A microcontroller-based readout system for dual-functional sensing with fluorescence imaging and FSCV was developed in this work. Fluorescence imaging and electrochemical methods, such as Ca2+ imaging and fast-scan cyclic voltammetry (FSCV), are powerful techniques for studying neural activity in animals. By combining these techniques, neural activities induced by a specific neurotransmitter can be monitored in exchange for a complicated setup. These functions are implemented together in the proposed device, and the disturbance between each measurement is avoided by operating sequentially.
