Experimental Study on Driver State Changes with Eyes-off Function in Traffic Jam Pilot Takemi Tsukada・Hiromu Sato・Ryuta Yonemitsu (Honda R&D)・Motonori Ishibashi・Yukiyo Kuriyagawa (Nihon University) This study investigated the effects of the Eyes-off function in traffic jam conditions through field testing on public roads. Compared with the hands-off function, changes in driver state were evaluated using subjective assessments and physiological indicators. The results clarify the effects relative to hands-off driving, differences in driver state characteristics, and provide insights for enhancing the value of driver assistance systems. |

A Density-Estimation ACC Strategy from an Empirical Traffic Flow Relation Yoshiaki Irie・Tomoaki Morimoto (Toyota Motor) The mechanisms of traffic congestion have conventionally been investigated within transportation engineering. Aiming at the development of advanced vehicle control systems, this study analyzes the congestion mechanism in detail from a microscopic (individual vehicle) perspective and explores its integration into ACC algorithms. |

Effectiveness of Photogrammetry-Based Three-Dimensional Modeling for Post-Crash Test Vehicle Inspection Toru Hashimoto・Azusa Nakata (Honda R&D) Post-crash test vehicle inspection is generally based on physical vehicle confirmation. However, it involves significant time and space constraints, which can make information sharing and re-examination among stakeholders difficult. In this study, a photogrammetry-based three-dimensional modeling method was applied to vehicles after crash tests, and its effectiveness for post-test inspection was evaluated. After organizing the image acquisition conditions and model generation procedure, the reproducibility of the generated three-dimensional models and the visibility of vehicle damage phenomena were assessed. The results confirmed that, compared with conventional photographic records, the proposed method improves the understandability of damage modes and the shareability of inspection information. This method has the potential to enhance the post-crash test vehicle inspection process. |

Experimental Study on Collision Avoidance Performance of the System during Rapid Approach of Another Vehicle while the Driver is Using Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Toru Kojima・Yuki Manabe・Akihiro Abe・Mamoru Takushima・Koichi Kitada (NALTEC) As representative scenarios in which another vehicle rapidly approaches while the driver is using Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), vehicle experimental tests on sudden deceleration of a lead vehicle and cut-in maneuvers were conducted. Based on the experimental results, the collision avoidance performance of the system, including the activation of the Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS), was analyzed. |
